Zynga has appointed Ellen Siminoff as director

Zynga has appointed Ellen Siminoff, as director of its board, to Zynga is the first woman director. Siminoff is currently the president and CEO of Shmoop University, Inc. and a founding executive of Yahoo! will also join the audit committee of the social gaming company. For the CEO and founder of Zynga, Mark Pincus, "Ellen has extensive experience and knowledge to operate web businesses to scale and brings a passion for Internet products for consumers."

Zygna is one of the leading providers of online games on Facebook, Google +. Games like Farmville, Words With Friends, Matching With Friends, Friends With Scramble, Draw Something, The Ville, Bubble Safari, Ruby Blast, Slingo, CastleVille, CityVille, Hidden Chronicles, Zynga Poker, Bingo Zynga, Zynga Slots, Empires & Allies, The Pioneer Trail, and Mafia Wars are part of its catalog of games, and Ellen Siminoff is now director of the board.

Since last year, the company has added a number of members to the board, but none were women, despite the fact that they are one of the demographics of the company's main players. For some time women have been increasing their role as policy figures in the field of technology brands, last surprisingly well documented was the CEO of Yahoo, which also was the first female engineer at Google, Marissa Meyer.


Ellen Siminoff had previously worked in educational publishing before his role in Shmoop, Siminoff served as President and CEO of Efficient Frontier, and was a founding executive of Yahoo, where he held a variety of roles. Also currently serves on the board of directors of Journal Communications, Mozilla, SolarWinds Network and U.S. Auto Parts. Siminoff graduated from the Graduate School of Business with an MBA from Stanford and Princeton University with a degree in economics. Siminoff joins to the distinguished members of the board of Zynga, including: Jeffrey Katzenberg, Reid Hoffman, Sunil Paul, William "Bing" Gordon, Stanley J. Meresman, Owen Van Natta, John Schappert and Mark Pincus
